COLOR PSYCHOLOGY – Colors are vital not just for the eyes to see but they also affect one’s mood, emotions, and even the taste of the food.

Can you imagine a world without colors? As much as we all know, color has this quiet but big role in how we experience the world. Essentially, it is even connected with our emotions and behavior. For businesses, it is also important to study colors as it creates an impact in terms of product packaging and brand logos.

As for the people, the automatic feeling we get upon seeing red is love as for blue, we are reminded of the ocean, hence, it delivers calm and relaxation. The famous Pablo Picasso once remarked, “Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions.”

  • Black means sadness to 51% of people. 
  • Gray means sadness to 48% of people. 
  • White means relief to 43% of people. 

In color therapy or chromotherapy, this is how colors are used:

  • Red to stimulate and increase appetite.
  • Orange to improve mood and possible thyroid function. 
  • Yellow to increase concentration and possibly treat arthritis.
  • Green is a calming color and may promote healthy metabolism.  
  • Blueto suppresses the appetite and treat migraine pain. 
  • Indigo to purportedly promote mental health. 
  • Violet to helps with meditation and potentially, endocrine issues.

How a certain shade affects a person is subjective but most of the time, there’s a universal meaning among colors people use. Bright, warm colors such as reds, oranges, and yellows are connected to high energy and happiness while the cool ones like blues, greens, and purples are soothing and calming. These effects have evidence that colors help reduce stress, improve sleep, and many more.
